Greetings AREA members and welcome to the 2021-2023 Retired Educators Association year!
I am honored to serve as one of the co-presidents of the Atlanta Retired Educators Association (AREA) along with Ms. Helen Carithers. It is my hope, as members, you will join me in the work ahead as strives are made to keep our local organization strong. There is much to be done by all members to help support our educators and youth. As we are aware, each day brings many significant challenges and pressures for our educators and students.
Also, AREA is very aware of the importance and relevance of our organization as retired educators with the shortage of educators at the school levels.
The success of our local organization depends on each of us, therefore, I encourage all of our members to do the following: join at least one of our committees; to continue supporting the state and local humanitarian projects; and our scholarship program. We support GREA's Humanitarian Project, the March of Dimes, and AREA's Humanitarian Project, the Children Healthcare of Atlanta.
AREA's motto is: Enjoying, Growing and Inspiring (EGI).
Lastly, I would like to thank eaxh of you for our success achieved for the year 2021-2022. We received the following Certificates at the GREA Annual Convention that was held in Stone Mountain, Georgia, May 3-4, 2022:
*GREA Unit of Excellence Award
*GREA Handbook Participation Award
*GREA Officer Information Award
*GREA Newsletter Paricipation Award
