The purpose of the scholarship award is to provide funds to a highly motivated student who is
interested in pursuing a career in Education.
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
Be a Georgia resident.
Minor/ major in the field of Education.
Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.8 or better.
Have a minimum SAT score of 1200 or better, or an ACT score of 20 or better.
Be a 2026, full-time, second year student in an Atlanta Metropolitan College/ University.
Submit one letter of recommendation from the College of Education Department Advisor..
Submit a typed essay of 250 words entitled "Why I Want to be an Educator."
Submit a recent photograph.
Submit an official (sealed) college transcript.

Completed package should be postmarked by or before April 1, 2026
The Scholarship awardee is selected on the basis of their application and supporting
documentation.
**All documents received will be handled with complete privacy and confidentiality.
Please notify the AREA Scholarship Committee Chairperson once enrolled in classes. Upon receipt of proof of enrollment, the $1,000.00 scholarship award will be mailed directly to the recipient. Contact: Mamie Grimes at M2779@comcast.net.
